ORGANIC MOTION TO HOST THE WORLD'S FIRST REAL-TIME MARKERLESS MOTION CAPTURE ANIMATION EVENT

Organic Motion to Host Demonstrations by Leading Animators and Educators at SIGGRAPH, Showcase the Power of Stage System to Create Fully Animated Scenes in Just Minutes


LOS ANGELES, SIGGRAPH, July 27, 2010 – Organic Motion, a leading computer vision company, today announced it will host the world’s first real-time markerless motion capture demonstrations showcasing the creation of full mocap animated scenes, recorded live during the SIGGRAPH 2010 Exposition. To showcase the power of Organic Motion’s Stage™ system, the company has invited a number of renowned artists, Emmy® Award winners, educators and customers to show how the technology dramatically decreases the time and costs when creating human animations. The sessions will be held at Organic Motion’s booth (#636) in the Los Angeles Convention Center Hall, from July 27-29.

During the expo showcases, the guest animators and educators will provide in-depth tutorials on game development, character rigging, animation prototyping, and even creating 3D interactive and gesture-triggered animations. Recognized as some of the industry’s elite animators and motion capture experts, the sessions will be led by:

Animators

• Mark Butler, Founder and Lead Animator, Secret File Animation
Emmy Award-winning animator, Mark Butler, has worked with many of the world’s leading entertainment companies, including Disney, Warner Bros., NBC, DC Comics and Electronic Arts.

• Mark Greenberg, President and CEO, Xtrackrz
Mark has worked extensively with The Jim Henson Co., helping pioneer their real-time performance animation pipeline and award-winning HDPS system. Mark has worked on many video games, including Tony Hawk Pro Skater, NFL 2K, Mission Impossible and Gravity Games Bike: Street Vert Dirt.

• Kamal Siegel, CEO and Principle Animator, Digital Double
Kamal has spent over a decade in the video game and entertainment industries with clients including Microsoft, Sony, Nickelodeon, Wild Tangent, Smashing Ideas and many others. Kamal was also involved in the production of Supreme Commander 2, the world’s first console game to use markerless motion capture.

Educators

• James Oliverio, Executive Director and Professor, Digital Worlds Institute, University of Florida
A five-time Emmy Award winning producer, James is internationally known as a pioneer in creative applications for performance and digital art technologies. He currently serves as professor and Executive Director of the Digital Worlds Institute at the University of Florida.

• Jean Marc Gauthier, Director, Tisch School of the Arts, Asia and Assistant Professor, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU
Jean-Marc is an interactive artist, author, and entrepreneur, his work covers large areas of the animation and gaming road maps, including 3D animation, virtual spaces and scientific visualization. He currently serves as director of Tisch School of the Arts Asia’s MFA Animation and Digital Arts Program, in Singapore, and is currently creating a new gaming curriculum at NYU.
