ORGANIC MOTION COLLABORATION WITH LOCKHEED MARTIN BRINGS NEW DIMENSION TO WARFIGHTER TRAINING

New capability inserts ‘live’ role players into dismounted soldier training

ORLANDO, Fla. – Nov. 29, 2011 - Organic Motion, a leading computer vision software company, and Lockheed Martin’s [NYSE: LMT] Global Training and Logistics business unit, a leading provider of training and logistics support, have launched a new collaboration to improve the training effectiveness of networked, manned simulation systems.

Through the effort, Lockheed Martin has integrated Organic Motion’s Avatar Target Insertion System (ATIS) and Multi Soldier Tracking Platform (MSTP) technologies into combat vehicle simulators for enhanced realism and greater student interaction.

The ATIS is designed to let training instructors play a series of virtual characters during dismounted soldier simulations. The new system will insert avatars into the trainee’s synthetic training environment, or throughout Military Operations on Urban Terrain training facilities, allowing trainees to interact with a range of characters, including multiple civilian or insurgent encounters. The MSTP tracks dismounted soldiers and provides their precise location and orientation in a vehicle simulator, becoming a fully interactive participant in training exercises.

“With this integration, simulated training exercises will now include lifelike talking avatars that are driven by subject matter experts from anywhere in the world,” said Andrew Tschesnok, CEO, Organic Motion. “We are excited to be advancing state-of-the-art simulation and training for servicemen and women.“

Organic Motion and Lockheed Martin will showcase specialized simulation capabilities in booths #2065 and #1449 at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) Nov. 28 through Dec. 1 in Orlando, Fla.
